Run Eve

I finally got a minute to sit down and put my last "pre-run" blog entry together.  It will be short as I am running out of sand in the hour glass...and still have some stuff to do!

I slept like a baby last night.  The night before was full fledged "Fight Club" level insomnia.  So, it was good to get a great night's sleep.  Tonight...I suspect that it is going to be a long night!  I hate that, but know my mind is going to be racing!

This morning, Christine, my inlaws and I paid a last check in visit with Dr. Dave to get a few vitals checked AND to teach my crew how to give me an IV drip, draw blood and the like.  Nothing like having your wife or father n law stick you with a needle!  Dr. D was so cool this morning...helped me out a lot with advice and the like.  He is also going to run some with me in the morning!  We are going to Skype Video once a week.  Thanks Dr. D!

I then got a call from John Garcia with some great news!  Channel 5 (WCSC) in Charleston, the local CBS affiliate will be broadcasting live from the run start...3 live spots on the local morning news.  I had to run over to the studio so they could do a few background interview questions.

I then spent the rest of the day loading, packing and thinking about what I am about to do.  WOW!  I am about to run across the $(#@$^%!!!! country!  It is finally here!  I would like to say I spent a lot of time contemplating this thing in solitude the last few days, but we have been so busy that I have not had the luxury to think about it.

Tonight???  Christine and I are meeting Carolyn Hardy, a super lady who has put in a ton of time volunteering for this run for dinner. She flew in from Florida to participate tomorrow.  Wow!   I am going to have one margarita, some veggie burritos and get back to finish prepping for tomorrow!

I am so pumped.

Thanks for all the support and well wishes!  It starts in about 12 hours!

  3. I have 3 girls in my living room with me all sending good thoughts, strength and luck. Make sure to check out the poster and picture on Facebook. You are in our thoughts and prayers and I am not sure how I will sleep tonight either thinking about you. Wish I could also be there for the send off and certainly am in thoughts.
