Larry, Curly and Moe

As I live in the heart of a major city and run in the middle of the night, I am quite used to encountering all sorts of wildlife.  Partying young people, homeless down on their luckers, people on whatever, "working" women....I have run into them all.  It is all part of living downtown.  It is never a dull moment.

However, I came across something new 2 nights in a row this week.

Bad-Ass raccoons...three of them, traveling in a pack.  Walking down the sidewalk.  Non-yielding.   A regular street gang!

These were not small, cuddly little furry creatures that would prompt "Awwww Cute!" from your wife or girlfriend.   These were big, city-hardened, non-ruffled, stay out of my ^&%*(#$!!!!!  way raccoons.   The kind of raccoons that may turn on you at any minute.  Red of eye, sharp of teeth, poor of disposition...they were not to be messed with.

They did not move as I ambled towards them on the city sidewalk.  No fear.  No scampering off.   I am just some skinny, middle aged dude running.  They?  Raccoon Gangsters.  All three looked at me like I was breakfast.  I, fearing a rabid raccoon attack, steered myself into the street.  I figured that taking my chance in oncoming traffic was less risky than dealing with these three.  I suspect they were robbing liquor stores at gunpoint, mugging old ladies or plotting a bank heist.  One hissed at me...I got the hell out of there in a hurry.

I ran into them again two nights ago.  The same three.  This time, I swear they had a shovel and were dragging a human body....

I have nick names for all of the homeless people and a few of the working girls that I see everynight.  (Ooops, that did not sound right....).    I have dubbed these three "Larry, Curly and Moe"!

Big milage so far this month....on target for 550-600!

Feeling great!
