Memorial Day weekend...
Parades, barbeques, remembering the folks who paid the ultimate sacrifice AND running back to back to back marathon distance training runs! San Francisco had a great weekend for all four activities weatherwise. We could not have asked for better days of sunshine, warm temperatures and low winds.
I ran three marathon distance training runs. Honestly, I think I set my training goal for the weekend too low. I could have run 3 X 30s or even 3 X 35s with no difficulty. These three days gave me a lot of confidence for the longer run...now 273 days away. No squeeks, no malfunctions...it was easy running all three days!
I now need to shift my training for the next 90 days to be a bit more cycling focussed. Ironman Louisville is held at the end of August and I have not been doing many miles on two wheels. Mostly, I have been running. I have been building a swim base during lunch time swim sessions 2-3 days a week. My initial forays on my bike the last few times have been superfast (for me), so I am not worried about getting my cycling muscles in shape for the 112 miles of Louisville.
I am going to keep my running distances at 50 miles per week minimum and try to work in 150 miles or so on the bike weekly and 30,000 meters per month in the pool. Looks like my work is cut out for me!
If you have not...please take a second to remember our fallen Veterans. Because of them, we are able to enjoy the lifestyle we do. All the good and bad of America has been bought and paid for by our military men and women. Salute!
Wow! I am not surprised but I am impressed nonetheless. See you guys soon!
